Day 7 - Workshop

Today a group of high-school students from Lavender Hill, one of the communities where the District Sixers were relocated, came to the Museum for a full day workshop on cultural tourism. Apparently, Lavender Hill is one of the most troubled townships - and it showed. These kids made me feel over-privileged.

They went to the site - District Six - during the day, and I tagged along. It's hard to imagine that it used to be a thriving neighborhood with 60-some thousand people living there. Not much is left... Just a small row of houses, a few mosques and churches, and a lone palm tree.
