Day 18 - Port Elizabeth to Coffee Bay

Yet again our plans were affected by the weather. We wanted to spend a couple days in Cintsa, but it was still gloomy there, and we stayed on the bus all the way to Coffee Bay. We passed the village where Nelson Mandela was born on the way there (he is Xhosa).

It was definitely the right thing to do as it is the most beautiful place in the world.

Coffee Bay is located in Transkei, a part of Wild Coast that lies over the river Kei. It is quite wild here - people still live same way as hundreds of years ago, in round huts, with cattle all around.

Transkei has its own "Big Five" - chicken, pig, horse, donkey, cow (or goat, goose, and whatever else you see). In short, there are no scary wild animals.

Transkei is the biggest producer of marijuana in South Africa, and it shows - it's impossible to venture outside the hostel without being bombarded with offers to buy some. [Magic] mushrooms also abound, apparently.
